Now we’re about two months in with the next-gen consoles, XBox One and the PS4, some are still enjoying the PS3 & XBox 360, thanks to Grand Theft Auto 5. Everyday I look at my XBox Live and PSN friends list and I see most of my online friends still playing GTA V. It seems like the next-gen consoles didn’t make much of an impact with most gamers, and I believe that this is due to GTA V and issues that the PS4 and XBox One have been plague with. Right before the next-gen consoles were set to launch back in November 2013, a lot of gamers were questioning if they would see a port of GTA V on the PS4 and the XBox One. Now some are even saying that a ported version of GTA V similar to the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, would be a dream come true. The thought of that would be every next-gen console owner’s wish, but I would not get my hopes up to high on that one. If I was to take a wild guess, this is what I believe Rockstar might have in store for the upcoming years on the next-gen platform. *Please note that I am not affiliated or have any contacts with Rockstar games, this article is just my idea of what we could possibly expect from Rockstar in the future*.
Red Dead Redemption 2
For the gamers who played Red Dead Redemption and know how the storyline ended, we were left assuming that in Red Dead Redemption 2, it would continue with John Marston son, Jack Marston. After getting revenge for his father’s death by killing those responsible, there is definitely more to the Jack Marston’s character and storyline. To continue the storyline of Jack Marston, it would have to be him still seeking revenge for the rest of the people involved with the death of his father. Hopefully we can expect some kind of info from Rockstar in the future on where the storyline of RDR2 will continue from. So graphically we should expect this game to be the next step up from GTA V, and much more motion physics with the characters. The open world should be twice or maybe 10x more than GTA V. If we are lucky maybe Rockstar would allow us to travel far north and far east by train or possibly with the early automobile cars. For the online mode let’s hope Rockstar take advantage of the new technology and give us an improve version of GTA V online. I myself enjoyed GTA V online and definitely look forward to playing Red Dead Redemption 2 online. In the mean time let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this is possibly the next installment from Rockstar games .
L.A. Noire 2
We’re not sure how Rockstar games feel about working on another installment of L.A. Noire, but I don’t think we should rule it out right now. In the first L.A. Noire the storyline followed beat cop turned detective Cole Phelps, in the cold streets of Los Angeles. In L.A. Noire 2, I don’t think the Cole Phelps character would return for the second installment, and we should expect to see a new lead detective for L.A. Noire 2. We should expect Rockstar and the writers for L.A. Noire to take the character and storyline in a different direction. It’s hard to tell how or where the story would go for L.A. Noire 2, but we can expect it to be graphically stunning and possibly be using the new game engine that would also be used in the next Max Payne 4 installment. On a last note the one thing that would make L.A. Noire have a big impact when announced is an online mode that would allow players to be good guys(cops/detectives) or bad guys(gangsters/kingpins). For now let’s keep our fingers crossed and see if Rockstar games, surprise the L.A. Noire fans.
Max Payne 4
As a big fan of the Max Payne installments, from the PC days to Max Payne 3 on the XBox 360 and PS3, I think it’s safe to say gamers are patiently waiting for Max Payne 4. Continuing the storyline of Max Payne will always be easy because no matter where Max Payne goes, there is someone always crossing his path or pissing him off. Judging from the way Max Payne 3 ended, it seems like Rockstar may be closing the doors on the Max Payne series, but I highly doubt that they are ready to move on from the Max Payne franchise. Max Payne 4 on the next-gen consoles should be amazing graphically, and the game engine might be a small preview of the next GTA VI installment. In Max Payne 3 we saw a new technology, that gave the game a realistic feel with cutting edge gameplay mechanics. I predict if Max Payne 4 is released on the next-gen consoles, it would be in the running for game of the year along with some other future titles. There are still a lot of gamers that enjoy Max Payne 3 online, and we can expect the multiplayer mode to be a huge step up from Max Payne 3 also. I predict next year E3 2015, we might get some exciting info on Max Payne 4 from Rockstar hopefully.
Midnight Club: Los Angeles 2
If you enjoyed MC:LA as much as I did then you definitely want to see another installment of MC:LA on the next-gen consoles. MC:LA on the XBox 360 and PS3 was graphically ahead of its time. The races and side missions were fun but also challenging, and some would agree that a bigger map would of been even better. The customization in MC:LA gave us a reason to go online and show off our tricked out whip to other gamers and our friends. Another MC:LA title might be a long shot for now, but there is still hope since Take-Two recently renewed the MC:LA trademark. If we are lucky to see MC:LA on the next-gen consoles gamers would be excited to see new and improved graphics and better customization. The map should be a lot bigger, with improved online modes, and MC:LA would be able to go up against the Drive Club and The Crew racing titles.
GTA VI is a title that we probably wont see until 2017 on the next-gen consoles, but it’s nice to think about how great this game would be. GTA V was a sure hit and gamers are still playing it like it just came out yesterday. Rockstar games are also cautious about putting games out too early, and they prefer to take their time and develop their games to give gamers the best experience. So we really can’t blame them for spending years on developing their games, and putting them out when they feel like the time is right. But the bigger question is where will the next GTA game take place? In my opinion, and I believe some gamers would agree, Vice City would probably be the next place for the GTA VI installment. Also don’t be surprise if Rockstar games, give players the ability to travel between Vice City and Liberty City in the game storyline. As for the graphics and gameplay, we should see a huge improvement from GTA V, and again a bigger open world. The online modes would probably be the same but we should also see some improvements in creating a character, and hopefully new multiplayer missions. GTA VI is still a long way from now but we can definitely expect Rockstar to give us a new installment in a couple years.
